A daughter of Okene whose public life is shaped by compassion, family values and the conviction that progress must reach everyone.
Hajiya Sefinat Usman Ododo was born and raised in Idoji, in the ancient city of Okene, Kogi State, as the youngest child of Mr and Mrs Sadiq. Her story is rooted in the warmth, enterprise and resilience of her community.
Before entering public life as First Lady, she was publicly known as a businesswoman and philanthropist. On 27 January 2024, following the inauguration of her husband, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, she assumed the role of First Lady of Kogi State.
She also serves as Kogi State coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative, a national programme founded by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu. In this role, she supports interventions across agriculture, education, economic empowerment, health and social investment.
A quiet strength. A practical compassion.
Her approach is visible in direct engagement: supporting pregnant women, advocating for girls’ education, extending help to widows and older citizens, and promoting economic opportunity for women and young people. The common thread is dignity—meeting immediate needs while opening paths to self-sufficiency.
